Tomato Rice


One more variety of rice items – Tomoto Rice. Tomoto rice made with tangy variety of tomatoes with spices to match, makes a yummy one pot meal! Tomoto rice with papad, pickle and raita would be a nice combination to relish. Like any other drier rice item, this makes a good box lunch for outings too.

Basmati Rice
Tomatoes
Onion
Peas
Ginger garlic paste
Biryani Masala / Garam Masala
Red Chilli Powder
Clove
Bay Leaf
Cinnamon
Ghee

Method
1.   Chop onion lengthwise. Tomatoes to small pieces
2.   Heat oil in a pan. Add the spices one by one and sauté for a minute.
 
3.   Add onion and ginger garlic paste and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
4.   Add chopped tomatoes and red chilli powder and fry for 4-5 minutes.
 
5.   Add biryani powder, salt and give a quick mix. Add green peas and rice and fry for 2-3 minutes.
6.   Cook rice with sufficient water.
7.   Tomato rice ready to serve.
