Seeme Badanekai Mosaru Gojju


Chayote is originally from Mexico/Central America. I did not know about this till I came to Bangalore. We had creeper of this in our backyard. Seeme badanekai Mosaru Gojju goes well with both Chapati and rice. This is yogurt based curry. You can also cook curry (palya) similar to beans palya.

Chayote / Seeme badanekai
Curd
Salt
Jaggery
Curry Leaves

1 Cup

Coconut (Fresh/Frozen)
Coriander Leaves
Green Chillies
Roasted gram / Putani
Mustard
1 Tbsp.
1 Tbsp.
2 (To taste)
½ Tbsp.
½ Tsp.
Seasoning
Mustard
Oil
Asafetida
½ Tsp.
As Reqd.
A pinch
Method
1.     Peel Chayote and dice them into small pieces. Discard the tender seeds in it.
 
2.     Grind the above mixture (to grind) and set aside.
3.     Cook Chayote with ¾ cup of water in a vessel. (Ensure the Chayote at still firm and not over cooked). May take about 10 minutes.
4.     Add the ground mixture to the cooked chayote. Add salt, jaggery and coriander leaves. Mix well. Let it boil.
5.     Prepare seasoning and pour over the cooked mixture and let it cool.
6.     Whisk curd and add it to the cooled mixture.
7.     Viola Seeme Badanekai Mosaru Gojju is ready.
