Palak Daal / Paalakura Pappu

Toor Dal
Spinach
Onion
Tomato
Red Chilli Powder
Sambar Kaaram
Tamarind
Jaggery
Salt
1 Cup
1 Bunch
1 Small
1 Medium
1 Tsp.
1-2 Tsp.
1 Tsp.
A Little
To Taste
Seasoning
Mustard
Fenugreek Seeds
Garlic
Oil
½ Tsp.
¼ Tsp.
1-2 Pods
As Reqd.
Method
1.     Chop spinach, onion and tomato roughly.
2.     Cook dal, chopped spinach, onion and tomato in a pressure cooker for 5-6 whistles.
3.     Mash the cooked dal. Add tamarind, salt, jaggery, red chilli powder and sambar kaaram. Cook on medium to low for 15 minutes.
4.     Adjust consistency of the dal by adding water and cook for 5 more minutes.
5.     Season with above ingredients and pour it over the dal and put off the stove.
6.     Serve with steamed rice.
