One of the favourate and well known snack from south India - Chakkli or Murukku or Chakkuli!!

1.  Roast urad dal to light brown in color and till you get a nice aroma. Let it cool. Powder to smooth.
2.  Now to the powdered urad dal flour add 3 cups of rice, chutney dal powder, salt, butter and cumin seeds and mix. 
3.    Add water slowly to the mixture and make a dough.
4.    Now take a Murukku maker which has different attachment plates, the one used here is a star type of plate.
5.    Take a small amount of dough and fill the maker.
6.    Now with the help of the top mould of the maker press the dough on to a thick plastic.
7.    Heat oil to hot. Now slowly put the pressed dough in the oil.

8.    Fry them until done or golden brown. Drain them on a paper towel.

9.    Let it cool and store it in an air tight container.
