Sweet Boondhi

Today I am sharing an interesting recipe with you. Sweet boondhi is one of the popular sweet dishes made in India for festivals, wedding or may it be any occasion. Because it looks like a drop its called boondh in Hindi.

Prep Time
5-10 Minutes
Cooking Time
20-25 Minutes
Ingredients

Besan / Gram Flour
Sugar
Water
Cloves
Cardamom
Dry Fruits (Raisins, Cashews)
Oil
1 Cup
1.5 Cup
1 Cup
3-4
2 Pods
2 Tbsp.
To Deep Fry
Method

1.     In a mixing bowl mix gram flour and water. Add water little by little to make a thin batter. The batter should not be too thin it should be flowing consistency.
2.     Heat oil to deep fry.

3.     Meanwhile in a pan add sugar and water together to make sugar syrup. The sugar syrup must be 1 string consistency. Add cardamom and cloves to the sugar mixture and stir while making the sugar syrup. Check for single string consistency ie If you take a drop between your thumb and index finger you can see a single string forming and that is the right consistency, Set aside.

4.     Now to make Boondhi. Pour one ladle of batter over the ladle with the hole holding it just above the oil. The batter drips from the holes and forms droplets in the oil. Fry the droplets and turn over and fry to golden brown.

5.     Drain the boondhi onto a paper towel.
6.     Fry the dry fruits with a little ghee.

7.     Add in the boondhi to the sugar syrup and mix well. Let it cool. If you are trying to make laddus make them while they are warm. I just like to eat sweet boondhi in a cup J

8.     Store the sweet boondhi in an airtight container
